House Tour: Keri Russell

I haven't seen much of Keri Russell in my movie- or television-watching career, but I do admire her lovely laid-back sense of style and beautiful curly hair.  :-)  When I found photos of her home on Elle Decor, I just knew that I had to feature it on All Things Luxurious.  It is beautiful and simple -- not pretentious or over-stated; my favorite type of design.  The sort of house you feel instantly at home and welcome in.  That's what I love -- instant comfort, but immediate recognition of the fact that you are in a beautiful space.

Here she is with her her family in her Brooklyn, New York home.  How amazing is that piano?  I have played since I was eight or so -- I would love to sit down with that beauty!

Here is the master bedroom.
I love that rustic natural wood side table and that glorious oversized bunch of branches.  The cool colors of the room are accented by the organic materials -- love that!

This is the dressing room.
Totally cozy -- a room with literally no intimidation factor -- natural textures and a soft color palette.  I think it's perfect.

The bathroom.
Seriously -- don't you just want to hop into that tub and never get out?  I love the chair next to it, too -- facilitating intimate bath-time discussions and company.  Very sweet.  :-)

This is a dining room that I migrate back to over and over again.
I think the chairs are my favorite part, or perhaps that the color palette is rather dark, but because the space is so filled with natural light, it appears peppy and full of life.
And the touch of whimsy with the chandelier -- beautiful.

A kitchen, filled with dark woods, gleaming white countertops, and stainless steel -- yes!  And how sweet is that little nook where Keri's cookbooks reside?

Finally, the living room.
All luxurious furniture in here, people -- nothing but upholstered, cushion-y goodness.
And the touches of nature brought indoors are, again, quite possibly my favorite thing in this room.

Okay -- time for the what's-your-favorite-part game!  I think mine would definitely have to be that dining room.  I just can't get enough!

love,
maria

House Tour: Ina Garten's Barn

I love Ina Garten.  Her soft-spoken nature, inventiveness in the kitchen, and cookbooks that easily transport me to a calmer world entirely make me smile.  :-)  I have a couple of her books, and I have made some of her recipes; but even if I just feel like taking a mental vacation, I can simply open one of her cookbooks and read.  There are not many cookbooks I can say that about!

Today we're touring Ina Garten's 'barn,' a small, but dazzling, home that she built behind her main house in East Hampton, New York.  With rustic simplicity and first-class amenities, this is probably the most luxurious 'barn' I have ever seen!  ;-)

Here we have the terrace.  Lovely, yes?  That table is gorgeous!

I think this covered porch is great -- set up like a living area, with a cozy couch and rattan chairs.  Yes, please.

Here, a covered porch leads to the entrance of the barn.  Can you say industrial-lamp-love?  :-)

In this photo, you can see the glorious main house off in the distance.  I like that the second house is a short walk away -- still enough time to enjoy the weather outdoors.

Really?  Can I just have all of this, please?  The bathtub looks out into the garden, too.  Swoon.

This is Ina's small office space -- loving all of the natural elements and textures.

Beautiful bedroom in a very soft color palette.  I love that adorable checkered chair -- and if you were wondering, yes, there is a garden outside of this door, too!

I told you that chair is cute!  This is the perfect spot for morning pastries and coffee.

Another angle of the bedroom -- loving that wall sconce!

This simple and organized pantry is amazing!  Industrial, yet very pretty.

Seriously, I need to cry over this kitchen.  It is perfect.  My dream kitchen.  Open shelving, neutral color palette...

A fireplace, shared by both the kitchen and the dining room.  Lovely asymmetrical mantel display.

Really?  Look at that amazing bar!  I love how close the dining and cooking areas are to one another.  And the decor is fabulously rustic and chic.

Soft and serene dining room.

You're gonna have to sweep me off the floor...because I literally just melted.  Here is another angle of the kitchen and dining room -- so textural!

The entryway, complete with a luxurious settee, petite wall sconces, and a soft rug.  Beauty at its finest.

Okay -- time to play the what's-your-favorite-part game!  Tell me!  :-)

love,
maria

House Tour: Sandra Lee

I don't know about you, but I love Sandra Lee.  Her semi-homemade style is great for busy people who still love to cook a yummy meal, and her demeanor is just so sweet and soft.  Lee lives with her boyfriend, governor of New York Andrew Cuomo, in Chappaqua, New York in an amazingly decorated and designed home.  I am in love.  So today, we're goin' on a tour, people!

Swoon.  Seriously.  A white color palette with pops of buttery yellow and warm wood tones create such an incredibly inviting space.  Expertly-styled built-in shelving, and tons of natural light flooding into the room maintain the most beautiful allure.  I also love the small flecks of gold that appear -- can you spot them.  ;-)

Just look at that gigantic mirror in the entryway.  I also love the charming display of umbrellas and that adorable boot collection!  Cottage charm and traditional all rolled into one.

Here is the workout room/man cave.  I usually am not very partial to dark decor, but this is done so well!  Love that built-in desk facing a pretty peek-a-boo window, and all of the organized shelving.

Seriously?  Look at that amazing china display in the dining room!  And those cozy upholstered chairs are totally calling my name.  Fancified table linen storage and lime-y flowers add character and even more appeal!

Just look at this calm, serene decor Sandra's got goin' on in here.  Mismatched furniture lends charm and a perfectly imperfect look -- my favorite.  There is an amazing mix of contemporary and traditional pieces, which I love.  And check out those fabulous candle sconces!

Okay, people -- time to play the what's-your-favorite-part game!  GO!

maria

House Tour: Mary Schmidt Amons

Any of you reality television-lovers out there (guilty!) probably remember cool, calm, and collected Mary Schmidt Amons from Bravo's The Real Housewives of DC which aired a while back.  Mary was my favorite personality on that rendition of Housewives, and I was always so delighted when the show shot scenes from her house -- it is stunning!

How lovely is that?!  There are times when I am a big fan of symmetry, and this one of them!  I am very fond of those two large trees flanking the entryway.  Gor-ge-ous.

Her daughter's room.  Sweet built-in shelving and an airy white color palette with a few choice pops of color -- one of my favorite ways to decorate.  And a lovely display of ribbons won above the window.

I have had this dressing room "pinned" for a long time.  I love it because it's not over-the-top -- it has a subtle chicness to it without being pretentious.  The natural light that radiates in from that window is probably my favorite thing -- wouldn't you love to see all of your clothes, shoes, and accessories in that beautiful brightness?

A pretty bathroom with a neutral color palette really makes the materials chosen for this room sing.  I appreciate how simple this is, but it still wows.

The master bedroom is completely swoon-worthy.  Again, I am crazy about all of the white, and with a few colorful pops (along with that fabulous zebra-print rug), this room just may be my favorite in the house.  Check out that bed frame, too -- pretty, right?

Okay, I lied -- this is my favorite room in the house.  (See what I mean?  I love it all!)  The fireplace is so lovely and traditional, but mixed with modern and contemporary pieces, this space looks fresh and inviting.  And what do you think of that mirror and those wall sconces?

Perfect styling -- old family photos and a curvy lime green lamp.  Loving!

Again, Mary makes an impression on us without being too gussied up.  This kitchen is gorgeous, yes, but ostentatious, no!  Simple, sweetly styled, and a space made for hanging out.

A beautiful collection of mismatched teacups.  Gotta love it!

I love this dining room.  It takes on a slightly warmer color scheme than the rest of the house, with a dark table, chairs, and rug, but the sprightly space is maintained by the white walls and minimal artwork.  Don't you love that print of her family above the fireplace?  Effortlessly cool.

Beautiful panel molding and white beams give this room nice dimension.  Loving all of the animal-print!

Okay, let's play the what's-your-favorite-room game.  Ready, set, go!

love,
maria

Ellen Pompeo's Mediterranean Home

One of my favorite celebrity homes belongs to Ellen Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery.  It is a place that is reminiscent of far-off places like France, Tuscany, and Spain; and upon entering her home, it seems that one would be transported to any and all of these places that took center stage when it came to inspiration for the home's design.  Pompeo wanted her space to be a place where people want to hang out, eat, talk, and laugh -- and it would appear that this house is the absolute perfect spot for entertaining.  Without question, this is one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen -- take a look!

What is your favorite thing about this home?
